Safety first.

Always.

At The Garzón School, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and understood. While no two childhoods are the same, every student needs a trusted network to lean on, especially in moments of challenge. As a diverse and inclusive community welcoming students from Uruguay and beyond, we are committed to providing a secure and nurturing environment where every individual can thrive. Our dedicated Safeguarding Team, led by a Designated Safeguarding Lead and supported by School Leadership, works collaboratively across the school to ensure the well-being of all our students.

Partnerships that protect.

Far from operating in isolation, the Safeguarding Team is central to our pastoral mission, working closely with educators, families, and external partners to provide guidance, support, and intervention when needed. At The Garzón School, safeguarding is not just a responsibility—it’s a promise to our students and their families.

‘Safeguarding is not just about protection — it’s about building trust, showing care, and fostering respect so every child feels safe and valued.’

— Catalina Garat, TGS Designated Safeguarding Lead

Proactive care.
Educating for safety.

Much of the Safeguarding Team’s work is proactive and educational, fostering awareness and sharing best practices in areas such as online safety, healthy relationships, and emotional well-being. Our team is dedicated to equipping students, families, and staff with the knowledge and tools they need to create and maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive community. These efforts are guided by The Garzón School’s comprehensive Safeguarding Policy, ensuring a clear framework for safeguarding excellence.

At The Garzón School, safeguarding is a shared responsibility embraced by every member of our community. All staff, whether in teaching or non-teaching roles, are required to undertake regular child safeguarding training through ChildSafeguarding.com, ensuring they are equipped to protect and support our students. This commitment goes beyond the annual police checks mandated by law in Uruguay, reflecting our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of care and vigilance.
