Movement is the

essence of life.

Our Wellness & Movement Program focuses on supporting and developing students’ personal health and wellness, as well as physical fitness. Teachers help students to develop movement literacy, gross and fine motor skills, and fitness and conditioning, by providing training in a wide and diverse array of sports and outdoors activities. Teachers also develop student literacy in social-emotional and personal health topics such as positive psychology, mindfulness, nutrition, and relationship-building.

We know that physical education plays an important role in brain development during critical periods of growth, particularly in areas related to executive function and self-regulation. This can help to lay the foundation for future success in academics, as well as in social and emotional domains. We encourage students to take risks and find solutions to different problems, developing skills that favour adaptability and autonomous action when faced with diverse environments and challenges.
